The artist- Mark Ronson and The Business Intl
Song title- The Bike Song
The narrative- A man has no job then sees a bike that he falls in love with. He takes the bike and rides it to the bike store and leaves it outside to go and buy a chain for it, at that point it gets stolen by a man. Mark Ronson then plays 'The Bike Song' out loud which calls all bikes to come and help. the guy gets he bike back and they all ride together. a friend then comes to meet them and they again all ride together and meet some girls to ride with, They all go to the park where the girls leave and the boys are left alone.
What is the position of the artist within the narrative?- Mark Ronson is producing the music from his magic bike and The Business Intl is the main character.
Do we see the artist sing?- Yes you do, throughout every chorus.

What is the ratio of narrative to performance?- 50/50
Analysing the A2 music videos of last year

-good structure, chorus verse shots
-use of effects and transitions
-good lip-syncing
-good graffiti background- colourful
-9 varied shots in the first 18 seconds
-good attention to make-up and costume
-close ups on lips, keyboard and a flame

Group 21
- 5 locations
-multiple base tracks
-good storyline
-varied locations- every verse was a new location
-at the end all the cuts are together

Group 22
- narrative could be confusing- too confusing
-strong lighting
-strong editing
- framing and camerawork was done well
-4 locations
Jaya Kaur: Post Production
- configure the editing environment according to the type of project
- import and organize all the audio and visual media
- assemble and modify the arrangement of clips in the timeline
- refine the flow of the editing with trimming techniques
- transfer content from video cameras and decks
- apply and manage transition and clip effects
- edit content that is shot from multiple angles
- add titles and graphics
- understand and apply basic audio mixing concepts
- finalize a project and apply color-correction
- output and encode the final delivery according the targeted outlets
- upload the completed video to popular web sites
- archive a video project and related content
Mainstream vs Indie
Advantages and disadvantages of a major label:
-you will have a global audience
-you will have a stylists, producers, marketers, costume designers and choreographers to help you with your image
-not much control over your music
-no privacy
Advantages and disadvantages of an indie label:
-they let you stay authentic and true to your music
-its about the music not the image
-loads of control over your own music
-you can get help from the internet and new technology
- you're not likely to make much money
-will have a small audience
-only have a small amount of merchandise
- you will most likely record at home and not in a studio

My Favourite Previous Student Video
First and foremost, this is genuinely an enjoyable video to watch. It includes a variety of base tracks which makes the audience want to continue to watch the video after the first 30 seconds as it doesn't get boring. I think personally I enjoy videos that have a story line because as the song goes on you know the video has more to offer.
In addition, I think they were inspired by the group 'Disclosure' with the special effects.
They used them effectively and didn't just flood the video with effects to make up for the rest of the editing. This group definitely didn't need to do that as the editing was done so well.
As well as having many base tracks, they had several locations; all very different to the one before. This made it look visually effective and prevented the video from looking like it was put together in the space of 24 hours. Also, the lip syncing was done very well.
Overall, I think this group got 40/40 for this piece of work which shows.
You can tell they followed their production schedule and got all their filming out the way and done quickly so that they had enough time to edit and do so efficiently.
This is most definitely my favourite previous student video.
Reflection on Progress
Catch Up.
At this point I have 18 blog posts but should have done at least 25/30.
This means that I have quite a bit of catching up to do with my blogging.
What I need to put on the blog is a post on what I believe to be the best previous student music video, an overview of analyzing costume, location and setting, the synergy homework a skills audit, a comparison of what our video will look like compared to the original and an analysis of 3 music video that have and will inspire our work.
Not to be done briefly but in detail and with a variety of technologies.
Technologies.
At the moment I am quite a fan of prezi and images.
I have use both more than once and also included videos.
Instead of doing simple blog posts I think I should use more technologies instead of just writing a bit and embedding images and videos.
Mark myself out of 20.
9/20 - this is because I am behind on blog posts but I do think I add a lot of detail to my posts. If I catch up with my blog posts and make sure that I continue to post the rest on time. I believe I could at least be a 15/20.
Blog Last Year.
I think that my timing with blogging was quite good however there was a lot less blogging done. This year there is more and I need to learn to complete them efficiently in the time frame given. This will allow me to possibly move up a grade.

Daniel Odebode: Audience 2
Audience 2
A fan of drum and bass expects to find a video that has meaning and possibly a storyline behind it.whilst looking at other drum and bass video's I have come to notice that they sometimes dont have a meaning behind them and are more just for the sake of having a music video to go with the song
Shannon Logan: Animatic
Unfortunately, I had difficulties understanding it and how to set it up. So as an alternative, I used camtasia to make a mini video of our storyboard just to get a feel of what our music video could look like. It is fairly simplistic and is just an idea of how we plan to put things together, no slow motion or any effects were added in this but will be in the real thing.

Jaya Kaur: Synergy
The synergy of our project is going to be the outdoors 'we can go anywhere' feel. I chose this as to connect with the song we have chosen, the idea of "waiting all night" and being able to go anywhere you want. To be let free in the world.
This will also reflect in our music video as many of the shots will be outside and of the main artist walking to her destination, although it is clear she will end up at a party the journey there could be conceived by the audience to represent the journey everyone has to take to get to where they really want to end up.

Shannon Logan: Song Choice
The song we have chosen is
'Rudimental ft Ella Eyre - Waiting All Night'
- 'Sigma ft Paloma Faith - Changing'
- 'Oliver Helden x Becky Hill - Overdrive (Gecko)'
What is in the actual video?
This video follows a storyline; a man has a cycling accident, ends up in a wheelchair and his friends help him gradually recover and start cycling and doing stunts again.
This video follows a storyline; a man has a cycling accident, ends up in a wheelchair and his friends help him gradually recover and start cycling and doing stunts again.
Ella Eyre, the singer, does not actually feature in the video so there is no lip syncing. It's as if the video and song are separate. The song is titled 'Waiting All Night' - the night element only features once.

The biggest difference would probably be that our main artist will most definitely feature in our video in order to lip sync. Our video won't feature a storyline of a cyclist and we intend to link more to the title 'Waiting All Night' - meaning we have more night scenes and a more youth party scenario.
Thus making our video significantly different to the original.
We found that the lyrics of the song are consistent throughout.
"I've been waiting all night.."
"tell me what you want.."
"tell me that you need me.."
This is repeated throughout the whole song. We came to the decision that we can be as broad as we want in terms of creative ideas. However, we do not want to cram the video so much so that it looks tacky.
Setting, Location and Costume.
The original video is mostly filmed on main roads and at a skate park.
We plan to film a party and the streets of areas like Camden, Jaya's roof, a house etc.
The only similarity we intend to have is to have scenes in public, out and about except we will be on foot and not cycling.
We will have a more nightlife feel.
In terms of costume, we will have basic modern day clothing; things that most teenagers would wear (not too dressed up, mostly casually). Similar to those in the video.
One thing that will stand out is Jaya's hair, in the video they don't have anyone that has something that makes them stand out.
Kyrell Martin: Evaluation
Evaluation
We plan on approaching the evaluation question using a wide range of mixed media and different forms of ICT.
These are some of the possible forms of ICT we may use:
Prezi
Slideshare
Emaze

PowToon

Slides

These are all slide show forms of ICT. Writing our evaluation using one of these will help us to present in a more visual pleasuring way as well as clearly showing our expanded answer to the question given.
We would look back on the things we have done over the A2 and AS years and relate it back the the evaluation question stating where things went wrong, how we improved things, what we learnt and how the year went overall.
As evidence for this we will include screen shots and other images of relevant things that will help us relate back to the question showing clear examples from the work we've done.
This will then give us a clearly detailed strong evaluation of our overall work.
Kyrell Martin: Costume

The costumes used in this music video clearly mirrors the costumes we have selected for our urban theme, as the women in the video is wearing similar clothing e.g. the Jean shorts. Some of the costumes our audience would expect the artist to wear are similar to those of what we have chosen, as they can relate to this type of style, especially young ladies who may wear similar clothing themselves.
Kyrell Martin: Social Media
Social Media
As social media is a leading form of advertisement and reaching target audiences, our group have decide to make our own social media accounts. We have made our own instagram, facebook & twitter account, in order to to reach our target audience also a wider audience with the hope that our music video will be trending on these sites. Further more social media will be very helpful for our music video and record label as it is a free easy method in which we can keep our audience up to date on our video release and other relevant information.
Kyrell Martin: Costume
Costume
We have a few different costume choices for different clips and locations of our music video. For the urban locations we decided that our artist costume would mainly be women urban street wear and hipster clothing. These are some of the costume ideas for these locations:
Beanie hat
Baseball caps/ Skater caps
Converse trainers (with spikes)
Checkered/Jeans shirt
Jeans shorts
Skinny jeans with rips/ bleached
Crew neck jumper/ hoody
For our other location which will be filmed around night time we decided on a 'going out' 'clubbing' costume for our artist, here are some of our ideas of outfits:
Some of the clothing item we may use in this location is a black or white body-con dress, high heels most likely in black, pencil skirt, crop top, clutch bag and loads of accessories.
We plan to have a large selection of different clothing choices so the audience can clearly see a different costume in each location. Furthermore we aim to have a minimum of 3/4 different changes throughout the video in order to keep viewers visually interested.
Afrojack & Martin Garrix - Turn Up The Speakers (Official Music Video)
The costumes used in this music video clearly mirrors the costumes we have selected for our urban theme, as the women in the video is wearing similar clothing e.g. the Jean shorts.
